On 31.10.2022 we completed the implementation of Stage II of the CalfCam project. Thanks to the data sets built, it was possible to achieve the milestones of the stage, which were the developed neural modules responsible for detection of cattle, estimation of cattle pose and also detection of postpartum paralysis. All the design objectives of stage 2 have been achieved.

Currently, the Consortium Partner (POLVISION) has started Stage 3, which will include the development of a hardware solution having the ability to run neural networks with data on parturition and postpartum paralysis. Ultimately, an optimized version of the models/algorithms using the RGB camera module and 3D camera module will be developed in cooperation with the Leader.

All the design assumptions of stage 1 have been achieved.

Currently, we have started the implementation of Stage II, under which, on the basis of the data set collected from the subcontractor, a module for the detection of childbirth and indirectly for the detection of postpartum paralysis will be developed.

Project implemented under the competition of the National Center for Research and Development Fast Track – AGROTECH (Measure 1.1: R&D projects of Enterprises, Sub-measure 1.1.1: Industrial research and development research carried out by enterprises).

On 20/09/2021, an agreement was signed with the National Center for Research and Development for the implementation of the project: “Smart system of early birth detection in cows” CalfCam “. The aim of the project is to detect phase II of labor in a cow in a farrowing pen and to observe postpartum in order to indirectly detect postpartum paralysis. The project was submitted in the AGROTECH competition (7 / 1.1.1 / 2020 Fast track – Agrotech) and is implemented as part of the Consortium with POLVISION Bolesław Polus, and the subcontractor is the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Institute of Animal Sciences, Department of Animal Breeding. We started the project on September 1, 2021, and the planned completion is on July 31, 2023.

The eligible costs under the project are: PLN 2,852,095.60, and the amount of co-financing obtained for Promity is: PLN 1,734,555.30.
